Starting an NADP Chapter

Individuals interested in starting an NADP Chapter in their area (i.e., founding members) should consider compiling a list of key contacts who may be interested in assisting them in starting the new chapter.
At minimum, five individuals are required to launch a chapter. These five individuals will form the chapter's leadership team and be the catalysts for its formation. Any other individuals that would like to be a part of the process but aren't interested in leadership, may join as members once the chapter is in place.
Understanding the Role of NADP Leadership

Each Instantconnect NADP is governed by an NADP Chapter leadership team.  As a team, NADP Chapter leadership provides ethical, operational, and programmatic support to the organization.  The individual members of each NADP Chapter leadership team are accountable to each other and responsible for ensuring that the NADP is a high-quality organization that produces increased value to its members.



Membership Qualifications
In order to be considered for Leadership, applicants must be licensed and/or certified in a profession that directly affects the divorce process. These professions, which are within the Legal, Financial, Mental Health, and Residential industries, are:

***Some of our members are certified to provide services specializing in divorce or have received additional divorce-specific training such as Parenting Co-ordinators, Guardians Ad-Litem, Child Custody Evaluators, CDFAs, etc.***


  • Applicant must hold appropriate certificate or license in their listed profession for at least three years, or must have relevant professional experience where they held a position as the profession for which they are applying for a minimum of 5 years
  • All licenses and certifications must be current and in good standing, with no disciplinary history in the last 10 years
  • Must provide at least two professional references
  • Must be highly skilled at his/her profession and be able to provide divorce-specific education to the chapter
  • Must be able to attend monthly NADP InstantConnect™ meetings on a regular basis (if registering as an InstantConnect™ member)
  • Must be committed to supporting other members and chapter growth

Leadership Positions

The following are the leadership positions required to start your chapter, along with a very brief description of their roles, and who may be a good fit for each.


  • Director - "The Leader" - This role is for someone that can keep their team motivated, stays on task, is organized and can easily command attention.  Is connected in the community, comfortable with public speaking and excited about the NADP's mission.
  • Assistant Director - "The Supporter" - Is familiar with each of the responsibilities if the other chapter leaders and can fill in for them at the drop of a hat.  Is responsible for the NADP Ed Talk content and speaker calendar. Works closely with the Director to ensure chapter success
  • Membership Growth and Development Chair - "The Ambassador" - Is the welcomer and greeter at all chapter meetings.  Communicates regularly with all meeting attendees by phone or email.  I in charge of membership and attendance management.
  • Social Media Chair - "The Communicator" - Regularly uses Facebook and LinkedIn to post invitations and all information regarding chapter's successes and membership.  Motivates the entire chapter to use social media to post about the chapter and is actively involved with monthly chapter socials.
  • Treasurer - "The Tracker" - Responsible for chapter venue selection, negotiation, negotiation and vendor relationships.  Tracks chapter's expenses. membership renewals and kudos.
